Led by singer/songwriter Jason Soroka, The Exotic Aquatic deliver a sound that is, simply put, intense.
Soroka, emerging as one of the millennium’s freshest and most prolific voices, stands confident yet fragile behind the microphone, captivating crowds to a silence with Cohen-esque rawness and the stature of a young Bob Dylan. Having been writing and recording songs since the age of fourteen and even releasing an album on a label he co-owns at sixteen, Soroka's obvious knack for melody and poetic expression is evident in each of his compositions, whether soft and delicate or loud and jagged.
Dropping out of art school, pianist Brian Pho flew home from California to rejoin the musical endeavor in New Jersey after playing piano with Soroka prior to leaving for school. Spending their childhoods merely blocks away, Soroka, 18, and Pho, 19, have formed a mutual connection and understanding of each other’s skill. Pho uses the band as his art muse in design while also arranging and capturing the ideas behind some of the band’s photo shoots, adding a visual representation to Soroka's songs.
Together, the poet and the painter showcase their passion for their respective talents, abilities, and identities through The Exotic Aquatic. While constantly traveling and performing with their band of friends including bass player Ryan Turner and drummer Andrei Koribanics, the reaches of these artists are potentially endless.
