About Royal Pawns

Charlie Johnson and Benny Kushner of the Mezcal Brothers teamed up with drummer extrodinaire, Justin G. Jones, for a couple Sunday jam sessions which became The Royal Pawns. The Royal Pawns met in the hollows of Charlie Johnson's basement and while trying out some new recording gear the guys laid down some totally one-off rock 'n' roll tunes. These songs were recorded with no rehearsal, 100% live, in a basement room using only 5 microphones! Under those circumstances what happened in the end is nothing short of a miracle thanks to the fabulous playing of Benny Kushner (Guitar), Justin G. Jones (Drums), and the who cares attitude of Charlie Johnson (Vocals,Upright). This record was not meant for release, but the sound and vibe on this recording is so fantastic that the Royal Pawns had to share it with everyone.
