   About THE FEDERALS

"If this evil narco drone rock don't get you off, brothers and sisters, nothing will."

Paul Lowman, The Talk Magazine

Exploding out of the soulless back streets of York, The Federals bring a vitality, urgency and immediacy to the music scene. Fast and furious, these four angry youths are putting the rage into garage with an arsenal of spiky potential rock n' roll classics.

"Proper attitude, all black-clad, no smiles, chopping out each three minute snarl and ripping on to the next one. Great stuff indeed."

Sandman Magazine

The Federals take no prisoners with their short, incendiary live set, barely pausing for breath before assaulting you with another punk grenade. Having already played with Howling Bells and The Black Lips, these boys are not afraid to test themselves against established acts and invariably prove their worth.

They wear their influences firmly on their sleeves; this is The Stooges, 13th floor elavators and the earliest brattishness of The Who dragged helplessly kicking and screaming into the 21st century, via The Willowz, early white stripes and even the more cultured multi-layered fuzz box power of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.

"Lifting fuzzy garage to soaring new heights. Indeed, there's something great germinating here - so when the revolution finally comes, it might just be these guys' flag we'll be rallying round."

Evening Press

I played your song What's Goin' Around backwards, and when I looked down, all my clothes were inside out, and my singlet was outside my jumper, and my pants were outside my jeans.

Hi folks. The bombardment begins! We have five shows this month, the first of which is mighty exciting!

Supporting his new Asthmatic Kitty LP ’In The Vines’ Raymond Raposa stops by for one of only six UK shows. His wonderful songwriting is awash with trippy electronics and lazy country licks. Twisted country Grandaddy possibly? I dunno, bloody good though! Assisting on the album are a wealth of talented musicians including members of the wonderful Phosphorescent, Jana Hunter and Sufjan Stevens.

Supports are great too.

York ain't so far away! 10 minutes from the station.

Please Please You presents Castanets, Fishing Partners + Red Trees. The Basement, York, Thurs. 8th May, 8pm. £6adv.

Tickets www. picturehouses. co. uk or Tel.

Monday 28th April, 8.00pm

Apollo 15 presents The Low Lows + Honeytone Cody + Low Flying Flag

A storming line-up! The Low Lows return to English shores all the way from New York via Austin, Texas to produce an intensive raw poetry married to a hybrid melancholic take on country-influenced drone. The rejuvenated Honeytone Cody sport a new line-up for the occasion – expect arch Lynchian musical shapes and femme fetale killer lyrics from chanteuse Elle Nelson. Low Flying flag are stoner rock incarnate.

Tickets: £5/£4 flyer/NUS
