The Few Murrays is a project born out of collaboration between Jed Smith and Josey Swift that started deep in the southern Louisiana swamps. The two musicians were abandoned by their parents as toddlers and raised by gators. In the wake (literally) of hurricane Katrina, a harmonium and a 15th century lute washed up to the small shack the two were living in (in an un-gay way [not that there's anything wrong with that]) at the time. Smith and Swift had no idea what music was, but they quickly mastered the instruments mother nature had brought them and moved to Nashville with dreams of playing the crappy bar one exit down from the Grand Ole Opry (they never did).
It was in Nashville that the two musicians found Brenton Stanley, an Illinoisan who was making a living as one of the most critically acclaimed dumpster divers in all of middle Tennessee. Brenton had recently "found" a Peavey seven-string guitar (some believe it was likely stolen out of a trailer parked outside of Rocketown) when he met Smith and Swift in the alley behind Tootsie's. The trio was soon asked to leave every bar on Broadway after attempting to hijack the stage.
They have spent the past year or so in exile just South of Nashville, but they have not been dormant. They've been hard at work on their soon-to-be-completed debut album/cajun recipe web log (it's hard to separate the two).
Hey guys! Our album is finally out! It's free to download here... www.brianleeandhisorchestra.com
