Influences
Foo Fighters, Dire Straits, Guns 'n' Roses, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Coldplay, U2, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Buckley, Neil Young, among others... at least they were at the beginning...I suppose there's elements...it's pretty tricky defining us. Not in a pretentious way, we can't do it. Don't read too much into these!
Sounds Like
A fuzzed up mix of high-octane rock 'n' roll classics and up-tempo catchy pop beats fused with unforgettable hooks and topped off with a fresh sounding splash of next-gen spirit.
The Fighting formed in mid-2005 and are a 4-piece popular rock outfit with Len Carolan as front-man, Chris Walsh on lead guitar, Col Cunningham on drums and Ger Carolan playing bass.
Once descibed as a band with 'Stadium rock ambitions', The Fighting have played some of Dublin's most notable venues, including the Sugar Club, the Village, TBMC, Whelan's and Vicar St, as well as a date in Belfast.
In July 2006, they reached the final of the Emergenza new bands competition, only narrowly missing out on a trip to Germany for the European finals. In September 2006, the Fighting had their first headline show, at the Sugar Club.
January 2007 saw them contentiously miss out on victory at the UCD Battle of the Bands final. In July 2008, they shook the competition off and got to the finals of the King Kong Club at Pravda,
Now, in June 2009, they have launched 'Nursery Rhymes for the Jaded Vol.1', their debut EP, for the world to hear. The CD is available at selected record stores in Ireland and throughout the world via iTunes.
Can't. Stop. The. Fighting!
