**BEST NEWCOMER NOMINEES - MARLBOROUGH JAZZ FEST 2009**

"THESE GUYS HAVE GOT ALL THE LICKS. SOUL JAZZ HOW WE LIKE IT, ROUGH, RUGGED AND PLAYED BY GUYS TOTALLY ON TOP OF THEIR GAME. A VERY EXCITING ADDITION TO THE UK SCENE" - The Craig Charles Funk And Soul Show, BBC 6Music

The Filthy Six are the most exciting, authentic soul jazz outfit in the country today and are fast establishing themselves as one of the finest live acts around. A London based group, they play a hip-shakingly powerful mixture of soul jazz, funk and boogaloo in the finest traditions of late 60's Blue Note artists such as Lou Donaldson, Grant Green, Jimmy McGriff and Donald Byrd. Equally at home in the dancehalls of club-land or the more traditional jazz room setting, their music appeals to move-busting dance floor groovers and potent chin-scratching jazz heads alike. Blimey.

"THEIR HEADY MIX OF SOUL JAZZ FLAVOURS AND BAD ASS BOOGALOO...WRAPPED UP WITH A VIBRANT ENERGY AND SENSE OF HUMOUR...KEEPS THE CROWD HOOKED FROM THE MOMENT THEY WALK ON STAGE...A SURE FIRE BET EVERY TIME" - Dom Servini (Wah Wah 45s / Shook) - London Jazz Festival 2008

The Filthy Boys have just signed a deal with the legendary ACID JAZZ records and have been beavering away in the studio the last few months, putting the finishing touches to their debut long play album. Due out in spring 2010, this is going to rock your socks off - fact

Recent filthy business has included making their debut in the main room at the world famous Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club (following on from last years six month residency of Ronnies Bar, upstairs at the club); headlining the Acid Jazz 21st Anniversary Do; a series of festival slots including London Jazz Festival; Greenwich Jazz Festival; Marlborough Jazz Festival; Goodwood Revival Festival; Ealing Jazz Festival; Glastonbury festival (headlining the Jazz Lounge with a roof raising (well, tent tearing if you're being pedantic) humdinger of a set!); and a killer gig at the legendary Jazz Cafe, London. They have also been invited to burn up venues (on a strictly cash only, no questions asked basis) and dancefloors all across the UK and Europe, including shows in Stockholm, Paris, Geneva, Isle of Wight International Jazz Festival and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

"*****" - 3 Weeks Magazine - Edinburgh Festival

The sextet is comprised of some of London’s hottest young musicians (that's hot to listen too aswell as look at people) who lend their talents to a variety of top artists from home and abroad including Tom Jones, Jill Scott, Amy Winehouse, Mark Ronson, Ian Brown, Basement Jaxx, David Axelrod, 4Hero, JTQ, Spiritualized, Girls Aloud, Bobby Wellins, Hard-Fi, Richard Ashcroft, Ed Harcourt, Natalie Williams, Stacey Kent, The Heritage Orchestra, and Nostalgia77.

"A MUTHA OF A SOULFOOD SAMPLER PLATE. KILLER HORNS AND COOKED JUST RIGHT ORGAN... LOVE 'EM AND YOU'LL NEVER LEAVE 'EM" - Hammondbeat Records

The Filthy Six have available our debut EP ‘Knockout’ – an energetic collection of horn led, organ fuelled original material including the gospel inflected title track, soul jazz grooves and highly danceable deep funk... It's available on a limited run, contact us here for your very own copy. nice
Here are some more kind things people have said about us... at least i think it was us... anyway...

"UNEQUIVOCALLY ENTERTAINING MUSIC" - Vortex Jazz Club, London

"BEST BAND AT THE FESTIVAL!" - Ealing Jazz Festival

The Rubber Room presents a Night of Crazed, Derranged, Psychotic and downright Degenerate Halloween Spookiness.

We will be dressing the room up and projecting vintage monster edits through the night as well as spinning some of the strangest and most disturbed 45s in our collections. Alongside the usual mix of blues stompers, rockabilly, sixties garage and frat, surf instros and rock'n'roll.

Hope you can make it!

The Maze, Forest Tavern, Mansfield Road, Nottingham.
