The Flaming Monkeys (TFM), started out three years ago as South London's newest and rawest punk rock band. At the time they were four irritating little hooligans who had a remarkable ability to write music and play their instruments.
Since then the band's music and high octane stage performance has caused major waves in the music industry
In 2005, just over a year since forming, TFM achieved massive airplay on Xfm by winning XFM Rock School and went on to support the Kaiser Chiefs at the Xfm Winter Wonderland
Now credits include touring Scotland and playing to over 60,000 people, playing at o2 Wireless Festival and Reading Festival, having a documentary about them made by ITV and winning Best Live Unsigned Act at this year's Vodafone Live Music Awards
Meet the Flaming Monkeys
Ben Allison, lead singer and lead guitarist. With influences like Motley Crue and Guns n Roses, Ben's zeal for vocal gymnastics is easily placed. Since winning Rock School, Ben has also developed his raw guitar playing talent into finely tuned skill. Despite the fact that he has now (literally) out grown his guitar, audiences are still blown away by a guitarist who shows proficiency well beyond his 15 years
The musical platform and like minded licks for Ben's rapid fire phrasing is set by fellow speed demon guitarist Jimmy Robinson
After quenching his thirst for speed on an elixir brewed from a melting pot of hair metal, Jimmy is redefining the technical boundaries of teenage guitarists everywhere. With his passion for speed and harmonies Jimmy aids Ben concocting songs and solos that both delight audiences and bring tears to the eyes of the most gig hardened Scandinavian shred kings
The lower frequencies of the unique TFM wall of sound are handled by bassist Chris Allan. Chris is also the glue that keeps the band's egos in check. If he's not encouraging arguments in the band he's preventing them. According to him sarcasm is the highest form of wit and he never misses a chance to take a cheap shot. Chris's ambition is to make you feel like an idiot
David Wearn is the youngest member of the band. He is also a lunatic and is indiscriminate in the anarchy he effortlessly conjures. But don't let the fool fool you. He's a dedicated drummer. If David's not shouting, fighting or gyrating he's practising his chops. The only drummers who can match David for flamboyance are +44's protoge, Travis Barker and mad sticks man Tre Cool, of Green Day. David meticulously unlocks the secrets behind their playing and through his unrelenting practice regime interprets their styles in his own unique and explosive way
The Flaming Monkeys infectious blend of punk and rock music is set to take the London music scene by storm, so come and see them, or they'll come and see you.
