Band MembersPaul Hemmings with at times, a floating cast of Liverpool musicians. WANTED LIVERPOOL BASED FEMALE SINGER .
InfluencesA melting pot of Eno,Can,Neu,Beefheart,Post Punk,The Velvet Underground,Fripp, Kraftwerk and primitive drum machines mixed with something all of it's own.
Sounds LikePRESS NOTES - 'Sonic Stories' album. 'Understated Splendour.' Ian Harrison, MOJO, May 2005 / 'Guitarist Paul Hemmings can shine from other angles.' Rob Hughes, Uncut, May 2005 / 'Distinctively his own work.' Whisperin' & Hollerin', Feb 2005 / 'Enoesque drones mingle with Roxy music-flavored mutations- Cool stuff.' Terry Banks, The Big Takeover, March 2005 / 'Electro type tunes with killer hooks.' Joe Curran, Live Magazine, June 2005. PRESS NOTES - 'Sounds From The Solar System' album. 'Vast, multi-textured acoustic/electronic Krautrock - influenced synth grooves and cosmic ambience rich in celestial drones. ' Selectadisc, Oct 2006 / ' Fascinating, unsettling and unique.' Rough Trade, Oct 2006./ ' Funkier and less abstract than Eno's ambient works. With its dreamy soporific qualities it shares the same territory as Krautrock pieces like Kraftwerk's 'Europe Endless' or Can at their most hypnotic. Definitely recommended.' www.whisperinandhollerin.com March 2007.

   About The Floatation Project
The Floatation Project is a unique and innovative venture by Paul Hemmings ( Guitarist in the legendary Liverpool band - The La's and The Lightning Seeds). All the tracks are original compositions, both instrumental and collaborations at times ( on lyrical/vocal duties ),with a floating cast of Liverpool musicians such as Tommy Scott from Space & The Drellas, Robby Stevenson from The Hokum Clones and Marina Van-Rooy. All are full of musical surprises which can take you on a journey through cinematic soundscapes to something more hard hitting. Two albums have been released to date these being the debut 'Sonic Stories' (March 2005 ) receiving some excellent reviews in the music press and 'Sounds from the Solar System' ( Oct 2006) a visionary and beautifully multi-textured instrumental album which explores Space. It's an intoxicating mix of acoustic and electronic - from eerie drones using both synths and lap steel, reflecting the cold vast emptiness of Space, to bright sparkling celestial tracks. The Floatation Project is currently seeking a Liverpool based female singer to contribute vocals to the next excitng venture. ..[if !IE]> ..[endif]>

Alright, I've got a new song up on my profile called 'If Life is a Dream...' It's a collaboration with The Castlehaze. If you've got a spare 5 minutes, give it a whirl. Take care, The Prof

Hi The Floatation Project! New track uploaded called "I Am" featuring Íse on vocals. This track will probably be the intro to the album "I Am" due to be released after this summer. Cheers
