The Fog Band met after thin-trousered, long-shoed Reading-born Bobby Grindrod was spotted amongst a crowd of pseuds at Bath School of Art by local mop-headed Co-Op proprietor and dilletante Oli Daltrey. Daltrey decided (for no logical reason) that the man he was staring menacingly at was the man he required to front his (up-til-then) instrumental combo and began a relentless text-message/phone-call based campaign with a view to recruiting Grindrod into the ranks of The Foggies.
Eventually, Bobby relented and joined the band under duress. Despite long-forgotten restraining orders, gaffer-tape, blind-folds and backs-of-vans, Bobby now concedes that joining the band was a good move. "I only joined to stop Oli pestering me", he claims, "but when we found ourselves supporting the likes of The Futureheads, Art Brut, The Buff Medways, The Dirtbombs, Neil's Children and The 5,6,7,8's, I realised that I'd definitely need more ties".
The local promoters and men-about-town from 'Purr' were curiously drawn to this bunch of local weirdos and after an unlucky game of "Truth or Dare" found themselves slaving over a hot vinyl press. Their solemn task? The creation of 500 copies of The Fog Band's debut single.
This record was entitled "The Law of the Sea" and was played three times on Radio 1. It was described as "Joe Meek and Telstar and early Stones via some early Television/Richard Hell flavoured new wave and just a hint of Dub Narcotic energy" by Organ Magazine, "Excellent jerky new wavery from Bath's finest" by Artrocker.com, "sharp-suited, incessant and captivating" by Vanity Project Magazine and "Sharp and treble-toned shimmering that fair explodes into drilling punkoid perfection..." by Unpeeled.co.uk. SoundsXP said it was "Quite, quite brilliant" and kittenpainting.com reckoned it to be a "glue-it-to-your turntable humdinger... utter beat perfection." Rough Trade insisted that "this single is gonna be glued to your stereo for years to come... all three tracks could have been the lead track - it's that strong."
So all in all, Bobby had to admit that, despite his initial reservations, his "...spray-starch expenditure [had] rocketed".

They have wind turbines, solar panels and super insulation. This means their walls are at least 2 foot thick which is useful for when they have bands in the evenings! This one should be quite good.
Teignton Fayre is an annual event that occurs in the village of Drewsteignton, on the edge of Dartmoor. It is an opportunity for the community to get together, raise money for charity and local good causes, and have some fun! We will be playing at about 9 o'clock on the stage outside. Should be quite good.
