The Ford Broncos are an acoustic-based, badly camouflaged punk rock band that uses bluegrass roots, simple but effective songwriting and splinters of cajun, dirt blues and rock’n’roll to generate a musical style that makes most people wonder if Johnny Cash really ever was into amphetamines and what would have happened if you had locked him up in a room together with Lemmy Kilmister for a year or so.

The Broncos’ live performances usually come in with a huge party factor (like any performance worth its name should do). And you can’t deny a certain Ramones effect: push the same button over and over again,and you..ll end up with the entire room jumping their asses off...

It..s a chemistry thing. Founded some years ago in KielRockCity by Mr. Ford and Mr. Quattro - mainly as an excuse for raucious boozing, smoking, and all the rest - the Ford Bronco staff grew little by little up to its actual size of seven royally weird members:

P.S.: Apart from their regular gigs, the Broncos are notorious for their guerrilla-like technique of entering a bar, convincing the person in charge that a concert for "a couple of drinks and whatever those folks got in their pockets to throw at us" is a brilliant idea, and there you go...

So watch out, the big guy with the funny hat standing next to you might be the bass player.

Obwohl die mehrheitlich akustischen Instrumente einen anderen Eindruck erwecken, sind die Ford Broncos eigentlich eine schlecht getarnte Punk-Rockband, deren musikalische Wurzeln im Country/Bluegrass liegen. Die Band pflegt ein einfaches aber effektives Songwriting und bedient dabei sich an Elementen aus Stilistiken wie Cajun, Dirt Blues, Rock’n’Roll und Soul. Ihre Musik lässt bei vielen Hörern spontan die Frage aufkommen, ob Johnny Cash jemals eine ernsthafte Neigung zu Amphetaminen hatte. Und was wäre wohl passiert, wenn man ihn ein Jahr lang zusammen mit Lemmy Kilmister im selben Raum eingeschlossen hätte?

Die Live-Auftritte der Broncos besitzen für gewöhnlich einen großen Party-Faktor – wie es bei jeder Performance der Fall sein sollte, die man als eine solche bezeichnet. Dabei kann man dem Ganzen einen gewissen Ramones-Effekt nicht absprechen: drück denselben Knopf immer und immer wieder, und am Ende hüpft sich die ganze Bude den Arsch ab… Gegründet wurde die Truppe vor einigen Jahren in Kiel-Rock-City von Mr. Ford und Mr. Quattro - im Wesentlichen als Ausrede zum Betrinken, Rauchen und dergleichen. Nach und nach ist die Besetzung der Ford Broncos auf die aktuelle Stärke von sieben schrägen Mitgliedern angewachsen.

P.S. Abgesehen von den regulären Auftritten sind die Broncos für ihre Guerrilla-ähnliche Taktik bekannt, Bars zu erobern. Dazu wird der jeweilige Mann hinter der Theke kurzerhand davon überzeugt, es sei doch eine großartige Idee sei, ein spontanes Konzert zu veranstalten, „gegen einen paar Drinks und was auch immer die Leute in der Tasche haben, um es nach uns zu werfen“. Und los geht’s!

Sei also gewarnt – der große Kerl neben Dir mit dem lustigen Hut auf dem Kopf könnte der Kontrabassist sein.
