For the last several years, music in Springfield has been slowly sliding back into its turtle shell. There are fewer places to play and fewer people turning up for the shows that do get put on. But the talent remains in this city as much as ever. The same city that produced late nights on a smoky, sweaty stage with the likes of The Ozark Mountain Daredevils, The Skeletons, The Morells, Fools Face and Kings X has a new generation of music-obsessed bands ready to showcase what they can do. What they need, arguably more than ever, is a place to do it. We are that place. The Four/Four is not a venue; it’s a portal to music. Music in 4/4 rhythm and beyond, music found on or passing through I-44, music played to four-fourths of its potential, a music scene brought together as four-fourths—one. Rock, jazz, blues, folk, country, hip hop—it’s all brought to you through shows, news, photos, audio, video… in time you’ll find it all here. Keep your eyes peeled.
