Frankie Starr began playing music at the age of 8 years old. He began playing drums and even played with his Mom’s country band. He became interested in guitar and started listening to old record albums of some of the blues greats, such as B B King and Jimi Hendrix. He has been playing ever since and his guitar has become an extension of himself. Frankie was signed with Belkin Productions for a period of time. He is known for his signature soulful, pure playing. He has many awards to his name. He has opened for name acts such as B B King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Joe Walsh, Ted Nugent, Edgar Winter, Leon Russell, Buddy Guy, Robert Cray, Albert Collins, and also played at the first induction ceremony of the Cleveland Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame. He played the Star Spangled Banner at a Cleveland Cavs game at Gund Arena. He was the recipient of the Outstanding Achievement Award for best playing in 1990 presented by Tophat Magazine. He has been on the covers of Northern Ohio Live and The Sunday Magazine of The Plain Dealer. He has published 6 compact disks and is a featured artist in the book, “Rock n’ Roll and the Cleveland Connection”, published in 2001. Frankie is a guitar instructor at Cuyahoga Community College and teaches privately. He has also instructed guitar clinics at Cleveland Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame, Heights Guitar Store and Case Western Reserve. He has a great stage presence and professional manner.
