The Frantic Heart Of It was born in early 2007, when Douglas Weaver leaned over and asked a complete stranger if he wanted to play drums in his band. A few weeks later, he was sitting at the bar and told another stranger, “You look like you play bass. Want to play in a pop punk band?” Within the week, Parker Mossop and Cary Miller were sitting around Doug's kitchen table, beginning the tradition of starting every practice with a cup of coffee. Initially working with acoustic songs that Doug had been writing and performing with his friend Zack Furness, as City Hands, they soon began working on new songs as a full band. The music is what it sounds like when punk gets a little older and starts to learn a few old country or folk tunes, and maybe drunkenly convinces everyone that a glockenspiel solo would sound good right there. A 4-song demo was finished within a few months. They played lots of shows around Pittsburgh, and a few out-of-town jaunts, and made lots of friends. In June of 2008, they teamed up with Atomic Family Records to start recording a full-length release. Almost a year later, and after a few hurdles for the band and their engineer Erik Grieco (1 divorce, 6 changes of residence, 1 new job, 1 house purchased, and 1 bout of leukemia), the self-titled CD is on the street. The CD release show (November 21st @ GOOSKI's) is being scheduled around Doug's chemotherapy treatments, and will also be a benefit for BRICKS (Building Resources In Cancer Knowledge) Pittsburgh, a local cancer support network for adolescents and young adults. As soon as Doug kicks this cancer bullshit, The Frantic Heart Of It will be back with lots of new songs and new shows. Thanks for your patience and support.
