Heroes
Aung San Suu Kyi (pronounced Aung Sawn Sue Chee), is known to much of the world as ‘Asia’s Nelson Mandela.’ Spending 11 of the last 16 years under house arrest, she currently leads a popular, non-violent, struggle for democracy, human rights, and freedom in Burma. In 1990, the year of Burma’s last democratic election, Suu Kyi’s party – The National League for Democracy – won an overwhelming 82% of the seats in Parliament; however, the military regime ruling Burma refused to honor the results of the election, instead opting to imprison hundreds of rightfully elected political leaders and rule the country with brutal force. One year later, and while still under house arrest, Aung San Suu Kyi was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Today she remains the only imprisoned Nobel Peace Prize recipient in the world.
The military regime ruling Burma continues to rape, imprison, torture, enslave, and murder its own people. Burma, a country rich with natural resources and beautiful pagodas, is home to 1200 political prisoners and more child soldiers than any other country in the world. It has a proud and dignified history, yet today lives in fear.
In an increasingly jaded world of political apathy and power-hungry institutions, Aung San Suu Kyi is truly that rare hero of legend – a symbol of hope – championing the rights of individuals in the face of human rights violations and dictatorial oppression. Suu Kyi continues to stand alone in defiance of an unjust and brutal military regime with grace and Gandhi-like resolve; she is a flower made of steel.
The Freedom Campaign is a non-profit organization focused on the advocacy and empowerment of individuals whose lives are a shining testament of peace and the pursuit of liberty. In a world wrought with oppression, violence, and human rights atrocities, these purveyors of truth are not afraid of drawing attention to the issues, although it often means sacrificing their own freedom. By building awareness of these peacemakers, and bringing to light the struggles that hinder their efforts, the Freedom Campaign assists in spreading their message globally, and inevitably overturning their censorship.
Currently, the Freedom Campaign is focused on drawing worldwide attention to the imprisonment of Aung San Suu Kyi and the struggles of the people living in Burma. Through the campaign’s music and film projects, and entertainment industry partnerships, the story of Aung San Suu Kyi is gaining international attention.

Ever wondered what to do in the event of a nuclear attack?
A while back I came across some very disturbing information, which inspired me to make this video:
Living Under the Shadow of the Nuclear Umbrella
Both artistic (ensure you've good enough sound to enjoy the background music!) and educational, it primarily comprises official British government civil defence advice.
Though the source materials are somewhat aged, the fundamentals remain relevant today.
I encourage all to visit the YouTube web page to learn more (Show your support! Rate! Comment!) and responsibly re-post and circulate as widely as possible, here: http://www. youtube. com/watch?v=UaIim3Rj7L4
