The Freys music is joyous, lyrical and uplifting, with a unique blend that seems to combine reggae, newgrass and world beat. It is at once playful, energizing and smoothe, with lyrics and rhythms that seem at once familiar and brand new. Great music to move to, the Freys have created a unique sound thats a great delight to discover.

Co-Executive Director, Collective Heritage Institute
"The Freys are sweet and smashing!"
--Mark Wilson, stage manager, Earthdance, Oregon Country Fair
The Freys burst onto the music scene with rhythms and sinsitivity reminiscent of Paul Simon when he visited South Africa. Sweet, heartfelt vocals from Dan Frey have an innocent joy not heard since Jonathan Richmond and his Modern Lovers carries us all back to the unbearable sweetness of first love and the love of youth. As with Richmond, the simple purity of the instrumentation perfectly supports the sentiments of the Freys songs. This is a band to watch!! And I mean that literally because the Freys must be a real pleasure to see live.
--David Hosbein
The Freys really care about getting the music out there, therefore, the new album will be available for free to download for a limited time from the website beginning September 8th!
The Freys are planning to tour the west coast in the winter and spring of 2007
to promote their new album. People Are Sacred, over seven months in the making, was released on September 8th! It will be available to order from http://www.thefreysmusic.com for only $7.99 including shipping! Your support of independent music is greatly appreciated.
Two brothers and a cousin, Daniel, Sam and Adam Frey began playing music early in their lives. During the past five years, they gradually formed the upilfting
folk-reggae sound that theyre known for.
All three of them also attended a Waldorf school, where open-hearted creative expression was encouraged. They compose the arrangements as a group, endeavoring to create a fresh, pure feel to support a new melody and lyrics.
The Freys grew up deep in the mountains of northern California on an
extraordinary family community: Frey Vineyards
Organic Winery and Farm. Much of the food is sustainably grown in between the
vine rows and in surrounding orchards,
gardens and pastures including: potatoes, vegetables, fruits and dairy. Any
visitor to Frey Vineyards will see long rows of solar
panels, flow form fountains, as well as tractors and vehicles that run on
biodiesel. Incidentally, these young men grew up
surrounded by forests, bird songs, ponds, and dozens of fellow barefoot cousins.
