Founded in 1971, The Fringe have set the standard for excellence in Free Jazz for over thirty years. The band was origianlly comprised of saxophonist George Garzone, bassist Richard Appleman, and drummer Bob Gullotti. John Lockwood replaced Richard Appleman when Appleman left the band in 1985 to pursue a career as chairman of the bass department at Berklee College of Music in Boston. George Garzone and Bob Gullotti are both from the Boston area and bassist John Lockwood hails originally from South Africa. George Garzone teaches at New York University (NYU), and he and John Lockwood are both on faculty at The New England Consevatory (NEC) and Berklee College of Music in their respective departments as well leading student ensembles. Bob Gullotti finds himself a highly in demand teacher as well. The Fringe have a long, but not so well known list of recordings under their belts including Hey, Open Up (1986), Return Of The Neanderthal Man (1989), It's Time For The Fringe (1992), Live In Israel (1997), Live In New York (2000), Live In Iseo (2002), and their newest album Live At Zeitgeist (2004) with special guest Joe Lovano on tenor. Garzone, Lockwood and Gullotti have several albums out under their own names and are each sought after by the very best musicians in contemporary music, having appeared as sidemen on many dozens of albums, performances and major festivals. The Fringe regularly perform in New York venues and can be seen live at the Lily Pad (formerly known as the Zeitgeist Gallery) in Cambridge, MA every Monday night from 10:30pm - 1:00am. http://www.lily-pad.net. George Garzone, John Lockwood, Bob Gullotti...modern giants of music. Long live The Fringe!

The project Nadu infuses two mediums: music and visual art. Nadu celebrates the organic, the spiritual and the primal creation of music and art at its most vulnerable state through improvisation. Nadu allows music and visual art to become one, the painter another member of the band, while the installation artist transforms space and time.
