When you hear the name THE FUNKTASTICS one might think of a huge 10-piece funk band but this dynamic duo consists of multi-talented artists, Tauros and Barsheem. The pair presents a new era in POP music. Their high-energy performances and creative style displays a rare take on live entertainment. Borrowing the Fun of Funk, the Heart of Soul and the Sex of Rock, THE FUNKTASTICS offer a sound all their own.
Tauros, a native of Detroit, and Barsheem of Brooklyn, NY met in Los Angeles, CA. With an industry saturated with solo male artists, they decided to market themselves in a partnership. Influenced by such self-contained artists as Prince, Stevie Wonder and James Brown, Tauros writes, produces and plays multiple instruments. Barsheem is a master songwriter, vocal arranger and producer who admire storytellers and balladeers such as Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson, Tony Bennett and Miles Davis. In 2005, they recorded their debut cd entitled “Funktastic Party”.
Once the album was complete, they promoted and distributed through the ever-growing MYSPACE.COM and iTUNES. As their fan base increased, they performed in various venues including The House of Blues, B.B. Kings, The Viper Room and The Stone. THE FUNKTASTICS created a scene unlike any other.
2007 is proving to be the year of THE FUNKTASTICS. Having four songs from their debut cd featured in the SHOWTIME film "Pants In The Family", earning great reviews on their exclusive myspace single "SODA POP!" and the release of their new CD "FUNKTASTICS IN THE SKY", they are well on their way to becoming a household name. Discussions for the next Funktastics album has begun. We're not quite done with F.I.T.S. just yet, but you cannot STOP creativity. Barsheem and Tauros are always writing and producing new music.

As I stand in the middle of the floor behind the shades I glare out at you. I am misunderstood controversy, whispered over, envied and hated, loved and respected I am TONY STAR SMIF..I know there will never be another like me . The atmosphere is bleak when I am not there . They come up to me and ask where have you been. Most of the time I say little to the effect in fact many have never heard me speak. I may crack that smile. I do grinning from ear to ear. Haters clamor around me with there grins. But im not in competition with them anymore, and I haven’t been for a long time.I have thoughts of bigger things.God has placed me in position. Who, even me to move myself. I ve earned it all. Jaded my presence fall down on them like a spot light. What ever they say of me. They can’t say I’m not a star.
