Once upon a time was a band called Threehead. Then there wasn't. The Drummer and the Bass player got conned into getting into another band with a midget called Rob and they got a bit angry. Rob didn't play well, but could sing so Matt came too. Owen (Og) and Dave worried. We played 3(?) gigs and then recorded. We then split up - but not as you know it - just a sort of not playing. Matt went and fell over Trip-Hazard and Rob playes folk punk now.

This site is just for me - Rob. I have been trying to find some more things to think about and write about lyric wise, and I keep coming back to these three songs. I know we wrote more - I think one of them was called "You're Dead" and I shouted that a lot in the song. They may have been almost 12 songs - I just can't remeber. I asked Ogg if he had any pictures, and in his words "I was playing bass, not taking photo's"
So - the songs.
The first song here is just about being out of it at a party. Sort of. It's also about loosing people though time and stupidity. You spend so much time thinking about yourself when you're pissed that you forget everyone else. Then you need to get out if it and you can't. The only person you can rely on has gone to a different party and there's some twit trying to be nice and sort you out. Never works for me, and I have been drinking for a few years now. I love Ogg's bass and Dave's drums. Sorry Matt, but I never like the first part of the solo, but the second bit is cool as cows. The usual vocal from me - whinge- whinge- whinge.
The second was a riff that Ogg wrote - I remember because he got really angry I couldn't play it. (I was a very BASIC guitarist then, as I still am!) I was in Ogg and Sarita's house in Ely - and it was a Sunday. I could tell it was a Sunday because I didn't have a job to go to and I ate all the left over Chinese food!
There was only one reason for the lyric - to be a bastard. I got it, don't know if anyone else did. It's about being dumped. Whinge - whinge - whinge. I hate the vocal on this - I go flat in every bridge.
Stone me was - and still is my favorite song in the world. I sang this first on the Sunday that we recorded all the tracks, and Ogg walked into the studio half way through. I started giggling, but you can't tell. (First chorus). This is a whole load of me having a go at myself for being a dick. It has nothing to do with my niece - I don't have one - it's knees drowning (see song 1). It's a bit Gun's and Roses but hey - weren't we all? I have lost this joke now. It's the only one I like all the way through. As the drums come in after the into - and Ogg's bass makes some sort of heaving noise - I still want to mosh.
As with everything 11 years old, it's odd and confused, and still wears it's big brothers hand-me-downs. Matt is seriously talented and I hope still plays like a god. His next band were great. I'm so glad he started to play bass, there are too many guitarists in this world. Ogg will always be great at what ever he does. Dave was the most talented, metronomic drummer I have ever played with - and hell, he had great hair! I'm ok too.
I would like to say I miss this - but that's looking backward far too far. For a DIY fen-odd band, we were ok. Better than some, not as good as others. We came at the end of a great history of Ely bands that could have done great things. I did. I ate the free food and smoked all of Ogg's fags! (Dave's were nasty).
In the scheme of things - there will be a band like us in every small town. Looking backward is just for fools - it's the simple things that will make you laugh - normality does indeed have it's uses. I have a job. Others have children. Matt has his hair cut. Nice.
Thanks y'all.
Rob
