The Gaslight Colony came together by some freak of nature. Being in the right place, at the right time. Living in the cheapest guesthouse in all of Tokyo (permanent bathroom reek, grease and cockroach infested kitchen, a whacked out landlord and a lying cheating coniving manager) cool creative people just kept popping out of the woodwork. Music producers, DJs, artists, singers, musicians were all making pit-stops there. I toughed it out for over half a year, which was way longer than most! One day I came upon a new resident who was just putting together her pro-tools set-up on a G4 tower. Hello? What's this? Enter Aiko Mizuno, jazz vocalist-cum trip-hop queen extraordinaire. Never had I envisioned the kind of collaborations we would soon be putting together. We ditched that crappy ass guesthouse soon enough but kept working on the music together for the next 2 years. After a lot of hard work we released our debut album on September 1st 2006. I hope you like what you hear.
