Sounds Like
Somewhere between chicken and "we've got a great big convoy"
In the commodity saturated, ecologically depleted, and morally bankrupt world in which we find ourselves, there are only two good things providence has left us with: artificial stimulants and country music. You will be guaranteed to find both with The Gated Community, a combination country band and think tank, dedicated to the politics of equality and the pursuit of recondite but usually licit substances. Find answers to burning questions of local and global significance: Who are the people in your neighborhood? Where were plastic palm trees fabricated, ca. 1970? Is the lead singer a boy or a girl?
Our militia-esque operation includes local underworld figures such as Agent Smucker, who has recently penetrated the garrisons of the enemy known as Keillor; Gustav Schelling, our youth envoy and Pioneer Camp organizer; and Guru Bali, the absent presence and heartthrob of the Community whose spirit floats into and out of every GC performance space, producing grunts, hums, CB radio signals, and other soundwaves transmitted electromagnetically via the aether and through rents in the fabric of space-time itself.
Keep your eyes, ears, and noses attuned for more transmissions.
Spring is seeing Signaturetone in full swing with a slew of great local and out of town acts coming in. If you’re thinking about recording, now’s the time to take those tax rebates and stimulus checks and invest in a quality disc. We’ll make make you look good at the merch table and for record labels - ask about our great spring and summer rates. We’re also excited to offer some great deals on live recording. Find out how we can deliver a great fully mixed and mastered disc of your next show for a terrific price!
New additions to our mighty gear list include the API 2500 stereo compressor, which gives us a complete API signal chain of pre’s, eq’s, compressors, console, and mastering compressor! Our vintage blackface Urei LA-3A and LA-4 also have arrived and are smoothing records out as we speak. We’ve also acquired a Roccaforte Custom 18 head, a Fender Princeton '64 blackface, and a Soldano 4x12, an insanely punchy cabinet. Guitar players be notified – we’ve got toys! And for kids of all ages, our 6000+ game arcade machine has been installed and is distracting us to no end as well.
Making your projects better at any phase for any budget!
Attn: bands - this is an open invite to anyone to come take a look at our new studio digs! Chances are I'll have a beer and some tunes for you to chill to while you check out our huge gear collection and 1100 sq ft drum tracking room. We're here for you guys, let's make some kick ass music just in time for the spring barbeque season.
Also, I just renovated my samples, now featuring the remixed latest by southern rockslaves Bastard Saint and a great new Radiohead meets Leonard Cohen track by my new band The Sextons. Check in here for some big stuff coming from sex rock heroes 20 Dollar Love and the supergrinders A Second From The Surface in the very near future. In addition, the studio just acquired a new Diezel Einstein and man does it smoke - Mesa and 5150s beware…
Any project at any stage of the process can benefit from time with our classic gear selection and large tracking room. Tape fiends take note of our 2" 24 track and 1" 2 track tape machines and huge gear list. Come check out samples of our work and ask us about a studio tour!
Hey...
We've got some Almond Davis shows coming up in April. Even though I (Almond) have moved way out to Oregon, I will be heading back to MN and IA and IL for some shows, mid-april. Come on out if you can, it's going to be a whirlwind week and I would love to chat. We're playing with Flink at all shows.
AND OUR BRAND NEW FIRST CD WILL BE AVAILABLE. Seriously, I am excited.
Sorry about the mass message copy spaJamming, but you know, this myspace stuff takes forever.
