  • Bio

The Gems demand attention. Crunchier than the lettuce in your Mum's crisper, they create their own infectious pastiche of pop and rock that sits somewhere on the fence between face-meltingly edgy and vending-machine accessible, and do it with finesse. This Melbourne four-piece have been winning crowds over since forming in early 2008, and have gone from strength to strength since launching their debut self-titled EP to a packed-like-sardines crowd last November. It received airplay on RRR which led to a Live'n'Local spot at the St. Kilda Festival and was also featured on SYN FM's Sweet Sixteen in February this year. The Gems have been a consistent, hard working unit since conception. The shows have kept coming, and each outing has been complemented by a drive to improve the performance and keep the salad fresh. This ensures a truckload of new material unveiled to lucky punters. The collection of songs that make up The Middle 8 is a Hundred Bars have been in production since mid '08, and are a confident step forward from four determined young artists. All songs written and arranged by Arni Rey Paras. e: thegemsband@yahoo.com.au ..
