Synthesisers blended very slowly through The All American Rejects and Biffy Clyro and filtered with a sense of humour, poured in a snap, crackle, pop-rock smoothie with just the right ammount of sarcasm, and seasoned off with Enrique Ingelsis and All Saints and a very, very large straw...ahh bisto.
Getting balloons and party hats out from the cupboard to celebrate what will The Gens 7th Anniverary, Robi takes the time to explain that he hopes next year will be the year that radios will fly and that his new found fondness for bannana suits will become a compulsory dress code in the workplace. The band, The men, The Gen write infectious pop-rock with indie tendancies and fun grunge hooks. They mix genres together in a mixing bowl with a wooden spoon and add hoi sin sauce and their secret Gen formula which is usually kept in a shoe in their cupboards, but don't tell anyone!
The inspiration for such a clatter comes from such bands as Biffy Clyro, The Xcerts, The Wombats, One Night Only, Arctic Monkeys, Elliot Minor, Jyrojets, Drive-by Argument, Telephone Bruises, Rescue The Astronauts, The Mascara Story, Enrique Inglesis and such life experiences as breakups, late nights, underage drinking and meeting mickey mouse for the first time ..an epic day!
The resulting package has secured them the opportunities to play with respected artists such as The Grim Northern Social, Jyrojets, Darkwater, Ewan MacFarlene and Thee Comrades among others.
They have secured local radio play (Morayfirth) as well as some cracking write ups from the papers.
"It is becoming increasingly well known that if you want to get a party off to a great start, your best bet is probably The Gen!"
In addition to these live related topics the band in the past have self funded 4 CD's at well respected studios accross Scotland and are currently working on their follow up with their Producer and Sound Engineer Angus Widdowson.
They have just moved to Glasgow in an effort to get more and more experience together and hopefully blag some more tantalising gigs with whoever and wherever they possibly can.
Robi has just run in as I write and announced that he has just found another box of Gen forumla in his cupboard. Watch out world, The Gen are about to mix up a storm. Of the musical variety. Most likely something you can dance to. If not then defintily sing a long to. Goodbye.
