TheGenericBrand is currently the solo project of Mike Vargovich from Buffalo, NY. The songs are recorded full-band with the help of Mike’s best friend, Josh Rabenold . Other than that, Mike records them usually using one-take type recording. They are recorded totally independently in basement studios. Josh acts as the producer for most of the songs. All songs are written by Mike Vargovich.

TheGenericBrand is more than a solo project…it is MY solo project! My name is Mike and, for me, nothing is better than music. NOTHING. I spend more time with it than I do with anything or anyone else. I started at only a few years old when I would sing along to "Thriller" in my living room (You have to admit, it’s a great album). What your listening to right now are songs that I wrote in my basement, at work, at “parties”, at school, in the car, on airplanes and in the shower. TheGenericBrand started about a year after I bought my first guitar and actually learned how to play it…and I use the phrase ‘learned how to play it’ very loosely. I spent years and years singing other people’s songs and finally I am able to go out and show people what I have going on in my little brain…what I think and why I think it. Everything is done by myself and also with the help of my good ‘ol friend Josh Rabenold (his band is called Standard Of Living). When I perform live, I play acoustic and solo and I have never given out free cake but I am not opposed to it. I have a five song EP titled ‘Late Without A Pen” that you can find on SMARTPUNK.COM and ITUNES. If your in the Buffalo area, the Clarence BARNES&NOBLE will be stocking the EP soon.
