I first liked grunge rock. Then that whole "electronica" craze came in the mid ninetys. A few years after that I didn’t like music for awhile, because bands that misspelled dinner side-dishes were popular. Then I discovered that good punk existed, you just had to look for it, so I found it. Then a bunch of mediocre punk bands decided to become the face of punk to the mainstream and tainted my perception of punk. Then I found the industrial music, and I’m reasonably sure that it will not ever get too mainstream. After awhile in industrial, I found I no longer have the will nor the capacity to classify music anymore.
Sounds Like
Early on it was mostly ambient soundscapes, then I tried my hand at industrial, then I was in the process of attempting something more in between, and with more of a personal connection, but I found it hard to do that using only soulless machines (which is what Kraftwerk would have wanted). Now, well who the hell knows what I am trying to sound like. How about I just say this: I sit down in front of my toys and whatever comes out of them is what comes out. I'm tired of trying to be this or that, I just am. Fuck it, I don't know the inner workings of the universe and neither do you, and when it comes down to it, that has nothing to do with music, so where does that leave us?
I have been on a lazy and relaxed learning curve for years now playing with software, then hardware synthesizers. I don't really know what direction I want to go, and most everything I have written is entirely an accident.
I sometimes write little scraps of sound for my film thingy, RASHfilms. I also am a director of a local filmmaking organization called Wis-Kino.
I would say this myspace profile is as much of a makeshift stage for my little music projects as it is my way of collecting and keeping track of all the cool local music around here and some of the places i vist.
Blue calls to the eyes and soothes the cones. It shimmers in nothing and bleeds black. Tattered, it clings to ones legs like a flag in teeth as its music weeps the weight of an age.
Hiya! We are playing Sunday Jan 4 @ the Frequency. But don't hate us if you have to 'heal' yourself hair of the dog style after new years. Libations are often offered in IV bags. We would be remiss to mist you dear mister, however, probably will bug spray style.
I haven't listened to your music in a while. You definitely have an 8-bit sound going on with some tracks. Do I detect a Kaoss Pad in the mix? What other gear are you using these days (aside from the laptop)?
Hey thanks for the add man.. glad to see your music coming along nicely. Keep it up. Our CD is getting pressed right now too. You can enjoy some samples at purevolume.com/apapercupband
