   About THE GETAWAYS (RECHER THEATRE AUG. 1ST!!!)


Hailing from Baltimore MD, The Getaways' energetic sound and performances stand out. With Michael Altner at the microphone, Matt Higgins at the guitar, Brent McBride on the bass, and Austin McBride on the drums, they blend Alternative rock, Powerpop and Synth rock together to form a unique and bombastic sound.

From the 8x10 Club, to The Recher Theatre; from The Fells Point Festival to Rams Head Live!, The Getaways acquire new fans at every show they play, only adding to their already loyal fan-base. In releasing their debut EP entitled "As The City Sleeps", they hope to continue their musical career, and reach their music out to the far ends of the earth, where no man has gone before.







"Songs like “8:15" channel the energy expected from music of the genre, but “Tonight” - a personal favorite - and “Fracture” bear a fierce, heavy tone delivered perfectly by Michael Altner’s strong voice and Austin McBride’s thundering drums. Guitarist Matt Higgins and bassist Brent McBride - the only one who carried genuine stage presence through the entire show - have clearly been playing music since they were in diapers, as they pulled the small, local band together with such extraordinary professionalism, making The Getaways a strikingly good band with a great sound."
