From the playwright of THE EIGHT: REINDEER MONOLOGUES and the composer of the musical LAO JIU, comes the Christmas musical MARLEY'S CHRISTMAS. A prequel to Charles Dickens' A CHRISTMAS CAROL, it is the story of Ebenezer Scrooge's late partner Jacob Marley, a miser more miserable than Scrooge himself.
Seven years before Ebenezer Scrooge would come to learn the true meaning of Christmas… his old partner Jacob Marley wakes from a night of excruciating stomach pangs to find himself standing in an open grave... his own.
Refusing to believe in his demise, Marley is forced to contend with an ominous spirit – who Scrooge will later come to know as the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come – a hooded phantom who attempts to convince Marley that he is indeed as dead as a doornail by presenting visions of those who have been affected by his passing – businessmen he has exploited, widows he has swindled, and his hapless nephew Bob Cratchit.
When Marley finally accepts that he is deceased, he is whisked away to a Celestial Court of Damnéd to be punished for his lifetime of wrongdoings. There, the old curmudgeon continues to flout all rules of decorum, as he did in life, and demands a trial for his supposed crimes. When the prosecution confronts him with images of his own past, they confirm not only his own wrongdoings, but the fact the he, Jacob Marley, is directly responsible for Ebenezer Scrooge becoming the miser that he is today. And more importantly that it was his own manipulation that drove Ebenezer to murder him, and will ultimately lead to the death of his grand nephew Tiny Tim as well.
Finally understanding the damage he has done with his life, and in order to prevent his nephew Bob Cratchit and his family from suffering an undeservedly horrible fate, Marley begs the spirits to let him return to earth for one night to save the life of the man he despises the most.

Dysfunctional Theatre would like to invite you to "The Eight: Reindeer Monologues" Sex, Lies & Santa - The Reindeer Spill All! Dysfunctional Theatre's 3rd annual production continues its inventive re-imagining of Jeff Goode's modern Christmas classic. Santa's reindeer gather at their private North Pole watering hole, and as the booze flows, the scandal grows. Alternately hilarious & disturbing, nothing is held sacred as the reindeer expose all of Santa's ( & their own) indiscretions.
Screaming, crying and WAY too much eggnog... isn't that what Christmas is all about? "A comedy that puts the X in Xmas" (Time Out New York)
Opens November 29th at 8pm! We would love to see you there!
"At Samhain, the Celtic New Year, we celebrate our connection to the spirit world, the beautiful energy realm that was the womb of our first stirring and the dream to which we are all returning. A seed dreams in the dark before becoming, and growing, fruiting, and later dying and returning to the earth. So too, the circle of our year begins as we reenter the dark of winter when we sow and nurture our hopes and dreams for the coming year. On this day the veil between the world of spirit and the world of matter thins. We honor our connection to the circle of life by remembering and welcoming our ancestors and all those who brought us love and joy, light and knowledge. We celebrate their gifts by sharing treats and giving to those in need. We meditate on our plans for the future and give thanks for all the gifts of the last harvest, those lives given for our nourishment. We solemnly remember those who have died for honoring the sacredness of nature, and send our prayers and good thoughts to those at rest and reflection in Summerland waiting to be reborn."
