DJ Emma Peel is Melbourne's first lady of latin. She hosts weekly radio show, SWITCHED ON, on PBS FM (106.7FM): taking listeners on a journey back to the 1960's and 1970's to discover sounds from around the world including: Latin Jazz, Boogaloo, Salsa, Samba, Bossa Nova, MPB, European Sound Library, Soul-Jazz, original Rhythm and Blues, Now Sound and other rare vinyl delights. In 2012 she supported 9 times Grammy Award winning latin jazz pianist, Eddie Palmieri, during his Australian tour. Most recently, she supported the King of Latin Soul, Joe Bataan during his only Melbourne concert. She has interviewed a number of musical legends including Tito Puente Jnr and Dr Lonnie Smith. From 2001 - 2007 Emma hosted Melbourne's longest running Go-Go club, Blow-Up - a unique monthly event which featured go-go dancers in cages, bands, psychedelic lighting and suave DJs. During this time she also DJ'd for the 126.96.36.199's Australian tour, the Melbourne Fringe Festival, Falls Festival, Queenscliff Music Festival, La Mirada Film Festival, Melbourne Arts Festival and traveled annually to Europe to play at jazz clubs in Italy and France.
