About THE GLASS CEILING Debut EP REPARATIONS Out Now!
It has taken just over 1 year for The Glass Ceiling to establish themselves as
one of Sydney’s newest and most dynamic indie rock acts, climbing out of
obscurity and propelling themselves onto a national stage.
Runners-up in the Toohey’s Uncharted contest in 2008, The Glass Ceiling
took their silver trophy and ran straight to Studio 301 to work with edgy and
elusive producer Tim Carr (Ernest Ellis, Hospital The Musical, King Jack). The
result of those sessions is their Debut EP Reparations.
Reparations wants people dancing to it, sweaty, in the early hours of the
morning. “Basslines that make you sit up and notice, that makes you want to
move and guitars that cut in over the top,” explains Richmond. “There’s
something about that British crunch sound from a guitar that’s a little bit sexy.”
In addition to this debut release in 2008, TGC received frequent MTV support
and Triple J airplay, played along side Grinspoon, Evermore, British India,
Van She, Old Man River, Lost Valentinos, and Cassette Kids, featured at the
Lawn Party Festival at Randwick Race Course to a 7,500 strong crowd and
also embarked on a East Coast tour of their own.
2009 sees the band write a new swag of songs, another quick regional tour,
and then back into the studio.
