Sounds Like
Now We Are Six is the third album from The Glimmer Room and is available now from all good vendors via A-Frame Media. Following on from 2004's Grey Mirrors, this new release looks to all the lost jewels, the one off tracks composed with a purpose in mind, throughout The Glimmer Room’s first 6 years.
Now We Are Six contains a vast mixture of rare studio, live and re-mixed tracks, giving the listener a chance to hear some of The Glimmer Room's most obscured from view, but totally inspired and atmospheric moments to date, in one sitting.
The Glimmer Room's second album ‘Grey Mirrors’ is a laid back affair, drawing influences from ambient works such as The KLF’s Chill Out and John Foxx’s Cathedral Oceans, the album is based around a single piece of music. It was conceived and recorded by Andy Condon in 42 hours, and comes in at 42:24.
File under "Longform Electronica".
The Glimmer Room's debut long player is a slightly more conventional offering, The thirteen tracks that make up 'Tomorrow's Tuesday' evolved from chopped up breaks and beats via lush synthesiser melodies to form The Glimmer Room's trademark atmospheric, layered soundscapes.
'Tomorrow's Tuesday' was released in 2002 on seminal Sheffield electronica label Neu Harmony.
The album was shaped by the soundtrack of Andy's formative years spent listening to the early pioneers of electronic music, as well as more recent influences like Underworld, Archive and Air.
'Tomorrow's Tuesday' was described by some reviewers as 'chill-out' but The Glimmer Room's music transcends the genre, drawing comparisons as diverse as Moby, Enigma and Mike Oldfield's 'Songs of Distant Earth'.
2008 will see the completion of The Glimmer Room's as yet untitled new studio album and live performances to be announced...
