We provide the comedy fans with info about New England comedians, comedy clubs, interviews, previews and reviews and much more.

We provide the art fans with info about New England art shows, museums, workshops, interviews and much more.

We will also have New England restaurant and bar info. We will constantly be adding new content as time progresses. Feel free to give us suggestions on content that you would like to see in The Glimpse Monthly.

Dj Maine Event was raised in Belfast Maine. All through 80's he was known to make mixtapes for the kids at his school and would record them with dual tape decks and pass them out so others could hear some of the music that he was feeling. In the mid 90's he moved north to Bangor Maine and then south to Portland Maine with his career and by te end of the 90's found himself in Peabody Mass. This is where Maine Event picked up a mic and was first a freestyle emcee under the name "amazing caucasion" (Based off Roy Barboza on JAMN 94.5 calling himself the Freakin Puerto Rican) and then bought his fist turntables and it was over!!

Although Maine Event was always into hip hop music...he found the indie scene while living in Mass. His first show featured Akrobtik, Skitzofreniks, 7L & Esoteric, Virtuoso, and Reks... basically the whole Boston scene at the time. Although the show had poor turn out, the artists were so talented, and so glad just to rock the set...Maine Event started to find his true calling.

It wasn't until he moved back to Maine and got connected to the scene here that he thought about where he fit in... what role he wanted to play to get these artists seen by a larger audience. In 2006 Maine Event hooked up with then named MC Adverb (now Mike B) to assist at WMHB 89.7fm Waterville with "Hip Hop Nation" which is the longest running hip hop show in Maine....From that first day..... Maine Event knew...this.... was his calling.

Today Dj Maine Event does weddings,parties and still does a weekly radio show from WMHB, but now it features the best hip hop of the Northeast (for those that don't get it.. New York to Maine) it can be heard online www.wmhb.org or 89.7 fm Thursday nights 8-10pm

Based in the rising musical hub of Portland, Maine, Loki was formed by Jon Taylor and Jonathan Boyer in the year 2000 at the University of Southern Maine. In 2001 Loki recorded their debut EP "Finity”, receiving acclaim from fans and musicians alike. Loki had found their direction, a brand hard rock with unrivaled intensity that truly connects with it’s listeners. This direction resulted in both 2002's debut full length "Born" and 2004's "Firelight" LP's. Receiving support from both of Maine’s major rock/alternative radio stations 105.1 FM WTOS and 94.3 FM WCYY, Loki has an ever growing loyal fan base, and has awoken a fire within their technical and passionate performances. Loki throws a stick in the spokes of modern rock today! Notable Achievements: Top 10 Local CD Sales 2008’s No Disclaimers EP Debuted at 3 in Local CD Sales in June 2008. The top 10 local CD sales charts are compiled by New England’s largest local music store chain Bull Moose Music. These charts are printed weekly in the Portland Phoenix. WTOS 105.1 Battle of the Bands 2008 Semi-Finalists Every year Maine’s major rock radio station WTOS 105.1 holds an annual Battle of the Bands competition. The station accepts entry’s from bands across Maine and New Hampshire to choose the top 12 bands. Loki has been chosen four consecutive years running as a semi-finalist, and was honored with a finalist slot in 2005 and in 2008. In past years this event has drawn upwards of 6,000 people.

The station releases a compilation CD including the top 12 bands. Loki has been featured on all four of them. In addition Loki has also championed several battles in the New England area. Some of the venues the Loki has performed at include: The Palladium-Worchester, MA The Lucky Dog Music Hall-Worchester, MA The Asylum-Portland, ME Copperfields-Boston, MA Mark's Show Place-Bedford, NH Bands Loki has shared the stage with: Powerman 5000 RA 36 Crazy Fists Kill Hannah Eve 6 Trust Co. Six of Pentacles is a rapidly growing company in Bangor Maine. Offering a full variety of services. Having connections in the entire US, Six of Pentacles is based off of trust, communication, family and a love for music.
