   About The Goat Family
The Goat Family began life as jug band root music stompathon and our influences range from Leadbelly to Led Zeppelin, from Son House to Cher. All the band members are writing songs and our live shows feature original tunes guaranteed to get your pulse rate up. Dancing and laughing is encouraged. We're also known to peel off a film now and then and sometimes they show up in the live show.

Liz Keim, Cinema Art Program Director at the Exploratoirum says: "The Goat Family packed the Exploratorium's theater the first time they played live accompaniment to experimental films generating a charged resonance between both the music and films they created. One member in the audience proclaimed it the best live music/film program she had seen to date. The band brings all out energy to their shows whether in the confines of a theater or out in a public park. Captured by the originality of their lyrics and an impressive array of instruments, The Goat Family's music calls for me to jump out of my chair and dance."

Unstopperable is our first cd and our second All We Need is now available on cd at The Goat Family website or on-line at Itunes. Also check out the coolest of t-shirts on our site.

Get ALL WE NEED, right here, right now!

New music tip: Shout Baby Shout is a great Japanese-American jug music compilation cd featuring a Goat Family song, plus 19 other great tunes. Order it now at Yanoo Records

Also this new crazy thing: A jug band mentioned in a magazine called Electronic Musician! Our cd mastering mastermind Myles Boisen has used a clip from All We Need to demonstrate good mixing and mastering techniques. Check it out at Electronic Musician

Hi there! Hope you can make it to our next show at Jasper O'Farrells in Sebastopol, Ca. on October 9th! The Rovetti Experience will be playing rock, swing, blues and a tad bit of bluegrass. So if you like to dance, or just want to check out an entertaining band, Jasper O'Farrells is the happening spot to be for the night of October 9th. Show starts at 10:00pm. Also, if you stick around till the end of the show, there will be a special treat involving fire and violin called Classical Element. Your support is always much appreciated. It's 21 and up. If you can't make it, can you please send a represenative? Thanks a million!!

Hey Goat Family.
so according to GQ and Details, one of the latest trends is the 'wander/ vagabond' look.. one of their prime references is a little film called 'Who is Bozo Texino?'

sound familiar? I remember watching that at your theatre!
Way to be trend setters! haha.
"Trend Reports: The Wanderers

Bozo Texino
Self-proclaimed "hobo filmmaker" Bill Daniel spent 16 years (and untold amounts of Super 8 footage) on a single detective mission: to find the boxcar artist who created the chalk-line character known as "Bozo Texino." Like all good documentaries (and most detective missions), it's the stories along the way that make it all worthwhile, and Daniel's film ends up being an elegy for a nomadic way of life. Look for it on DVD or at one of the open-air screenings—the screen being the sails atop the Sunset Scavenger, pictured—that the director is putting on across the country.
DVD, $16; more info at billdaniel.net"

"Ticklin' The Strings" by Sweet Hollywaiians
Amazing Japanese hot string band playing 1920's, 30's, 40's style hawaiian, swing, calypso, blues, italian music and originals, featuring vintage instruments.3 songs with Robert Armstrong and Tony Marcus(from Robert Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders)

Promotional Video(My Girl From The South Sea Isles)

"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan. See them live, if you can, for an unforgettable experience. If you can't, buy their Cds!" ~ Terry Zwigoff
