About THE GOLDEN REPUBLIC SAYS GOODBYE AND THANK YOU.
Sadly, as of our final show on February 09, 2007, The Golden Republic are no more. We are deeply grateful for all the support and love we’ve been shown during the years we invested in this phase of our lives. We would particularly like to thank Ben Weber, Errol Kolosine, Glenn Medlinger, Scott Kanov, Frank Riley, Craig Averill, Peter Katis, our families, the amazing Kansas City music community, and everyone at Astralwerks for their incredible investments into our lives, creativity, and music. You are all so appreciated.

The Golden Republic evolved from an early art-rock project called ’People’ (the EP’s namesake), which started in Springfield, MO in 1999. After spending a few years experimenting with direction and songwriting and simply finding our sea-legs, the project was disassembled and reassembled as TGR. -------- In September 2004 we released the ’People’ EP on Astralwerks Records, followed by our self-titled full-length in February 2005. -------- During our years in TGR we had the pleasure of touring and playing extensively with such groups as Nada Surf, Sondre Lerche, Idlewild, Caesars, Graham Coxon, 22-20’s, Aqueduct, Mates of State, The Sleepy Jackson, The Thrills, Scotland Yard Gospel Choir, Interpol, The Walkmen, Motion City Soundtrack, The Get-Up Kids, Jens Lekman, Ed Harcourt, Kings of Convenience, Phoenix, the Concretes, West Indian Girl, Radio 4, VHS or BETA, Doug Gillard (GBV) and so on.

wow. i hope you guys had many wonderful and great experiences with TGR.i was there at SF for your two shows 1)opening for Sondre Lerche (my first time being introduced to TGR and 2) the Noise Pop festival. i enjoyed the shows and the great performances. i wish you all the best of luck in the future. thank you for the music :).
It sucks I'm in Oregon and can't make it to the last show. I saw you guys twice in Minneapolis, and I still listen to your CD all the time. Thanks for the memories of kick ass shows, good luck with your future stuff!
Oh, I'm so sad I can't make it all the way out to KC for the last show. I still have my poster from the guys you came to play at Ship two years ago, autographed, in mint condition. I, too, wouldn't mind adding another to the collection ...
Best of luck you guys, play "You'll Get Old" for me :)
