QUOTES
“In an age of ever increasingly unlistenable music, Steph Hayes and the Good Problems present straight-forward, heart-felt, and well-written rock and roll. It's refreshing.”
-AJ from Sirens Muse on WPVM-LP Asheville
“Intelligent lyrics, catchy hooks -- real, relevant and sexy.”
-Susan from Sirens Muse on WPVM-LP Asheville
“…The Good Problems exude an androgynous take on Ryan Adams’ studied cool that seems even more affected than his, but their seemingly sincere material balances things out nicely.”
-Jim Reed, Connect Savannah
“This Philadelphia-based band is talented, versatile, energetic, and thought provoking.”
-Lin Orndorf, Outinasheville.com
"Mostly True Stories" is a live recording of twelve new songs written during a time of travel and touring. Cocaine whores, Indian casinos, porch poets, waitress rendevous, sleazy motels....and of course, unrequited love are all topics addressed. The record includes stories and interactions with the audience.
Steph Hayes is a singer and songwriter who spent several years in pop/rock group Stargazer Lily.
She signed with Arista Records in 2000, has written with Billy Steinberg (Madonna, Roy Orbison),
John Shanks (Ashlee Simpson, Melissa Etheridge) and Shelley Peiken (Meredith Brooks) and many other
top industry songwriters. She has also recorded with Nelly Furtado, The John Lennon REMIX project, and
Ben Arnold. This year, Steph Hayes shared stages with Bitch, Erin McKewon, Namoli Brennet, Wayne Fishell, Jenny Owen-Youngs, Michelle Malone, Nicole Reynolds and gregory Douglass. Following the 2006 release of the album "Dirty Beauty" she now performs solo or with her band
The Good Problems.
Hayes’ current writing is a return to her more lyrical roots. At times solemn and at times mischeivious,
she now tours to support an exhilarating notebook addiction. "The goal of my career, and of my life is to be
a better songwriter. Touring has taught me how to accomplish that goal. To keep moving, to come and go,
to watch people, to visit places and submerge myself in them. And most importantly, to write it all down."
"Am I moving Forward or Running Away" is an epic saga of live on the road, love on the road, roads to nowhere towns and runnin...and wondering why you're doing any of it!
"Silverspur Motel" is the story of a late night detour to a scary prairie town.....
"Out of Time" is Steph's attempt to write a Johnny Cash song.....
"Ballerina" is about the one you want because you can't have.....

This is live footage from the recording of "MOSTLY TRUE STORIES". The song is called "I Must Become A River, Not A Rock" and was the final song of the evening hence the freaking out of the audience. (They don't usually do that after every song though i should lie and say they do) . Mia Johnson and Bill Drummer shot the footage and Mia did the editing. Thanks Hep!
Thanks for the friendship! LUV-LUV-LUV YOUR MUSIC Summer love is my favorite, I always try to work it in on my show! (on rec radio) my best to you always!
YES! I do too, but I can't breathe, I can't sleep and my head is throbbing....I went to the Pharmacy last night and she hooked me up, so I hope with these meds I can get to feeling better. I am not coming in this afternoon to work. We might actually do that. Send a text my way and remind me, if you don't mind. I'd love to do that! We are SOOO loving our vacation time and love being around people too. the extra money we made from taking those paid surveys online helped out so much!! you should really do them too; i mean, hey, the extra money comes in handy, right? i guess you'll have to type the link into internet explorer or whatever, but here it is:
