Music of the Gourishankar - is the music of northerner, who is living on the joint of Europe and Asia, near the Ural Mountains. Though musicians call their music "The music for mystical dancing in the opium saloons", all up-to-date creativity of the Gourishankar is based on progressive rock basis. The musicians experience the life through unexpected enlightenments, reflection and meditation, spontaneous insights. In their music musicians are trying to unite the rationality and evolutionism of the West and Eastern mysticism and spontaneous.

The band was formed in 2002 in small provincial city Syktyvkar by guitar player Nomy Agranson and keyboardist Doran Usher.

Currently the Gourishankar are:

Vlad MJ Whiner - vocals
Doran Usher - all keyboards
Nomy Agranson - all guitars, back vocals
Cat Heady - drums, loops



Since that time the band have recorded one EP two LP albums, based on classical Russian poetry, translated into English.

In the fall 2002 the band self-released debut EP album "Integral Symphony". In the recording took part Igor Rayhel (vocals) and Paul Gen (bass guitar).

In the fall 2003 the band met vocalist Vlad MJ Whinner and invited him for the recording of LP "Close Grip", based on EP "Integral Symphony" material. Since that time Vlad become the member of the band.

The album was recorded with Gentle Giant's "For Nobody" cover track as a bonus. In recording took part Alexandr Vethov (drums), Nail Maxonov (drums), Cat Heady (percussion & loops).

Since that time Cat Heady become a member of the band as a drummer.

In 2007 the LP was remastered and released by MALS (CIS countries) at 25th of January 2008 and internationally by Unicorn Digital at 15th of April 2008.

Since 2004 till 2006 the band recorded second album "2nd hands", in recording took part Vladimir Ratorguev (viola), Dmitry Ulyashev (sax and flute) and Alla Izverskaya (back vocals)

"2nd hands" was released by Unicorn Digital Inc. at 21th of March 2007.
