About The Grace Jones

the grace jones is based upon an idea conceived by manda and the goat in a field in eindhoven in 1998.

in april 2006 it finally started happening for real when goat started to create terrible noises for cathartic purposes in the back room of his house in belfast, northern ireland. he remembered the conversation with manda from 1998 and thought he would try to look her up to lay some vocals on the terrible noises.

after a dedicated thirty minutes of late night drunken googling, goat found manda... 11,000 miles away in auckland, new zealand.

not to be deterred by living on perfect opposite points of the planet, they went ahead and did it anyway.

this has involved several months of sending files back and forth between Northern Ireland and New Zealand, and communicating in short bursts in the 30 minutes or so of each day that they are both awake for.

the result is the grace jones.

Alternatively, you can support NZ music buy buying our tracks from Amplifier.co.nz - the home of New Zealand Music. The tracks are a higher bitrate quality than those we have on MySpace. Go check it out and maybe whilst you're there check out some other NZ bands.

Elliot Brown And The Candy Caps	Mar 10 2009 9:17 PM So yeah, Prince William's agent/publicist/PR guy/whatever called us or rather called the head of our label, Sailor Mouth Records, to ask if we could play at some royal thing in a few months and we asked him for a dollar. Anyway, there's a music video coming up very soon for three of our newest songs and there are also two new songs coming before the end of this coming week. An olm is a creature that lives in caves under Slovenia and is pretty much a glorified eel-it has no eyes but has little hands, for no apparent reason. The people who first discovered them thought they were baby dragons. Yesterday I watched TV.
