"Authentic Brasilian Samba Jazz as good as you'd hear anywhere in the World - including Brasil!!" (Snowboy).
'The best bands in improvised music are the ones that are able to execute moments of cohesive bliss at the right time...The Grand Wazoo have this gift, and as such are not just an assembly of very able musicians, they're a highly enjoyable band to watch' (Leeds Guide).
The Grand Wazoo are one of the premier jazz samba bands in the UK. In their short existence, they've played to thousands at the Edinburgh Live8 rally, supported legends Azymuth and Courtney Pine, and gathered a faithful local fan base. Devoted to the music of Brazil, they play classics from the likes of Airto, Marcos Valle, Jobim, Joyce, Jorge Ben and many others, as well as excavating lesser-known treasures and arranging them all in their own unique way.
The Tombo Trio, the little brother of the Wazoo, are currently making a big name for themselves due to their high intensity jazz samba. Influenced by the classic 60's Brazilian piano trios like Milton Banana, Tamba Trio and Som Tres, but constantly forward-thinking at the same time, they put a thoroughly modern spin on the traditional Brazilian songbook to create their own kind of Brazilian jazz.

Rest In All Love Is
------------------
I love you like this...
dark, i can barely see your eyes...
so dark my eyes are useless. My
heart opens wide its light on you
and your face brightens like the
static on a TV screen, or like the moment
we die and things begin to go all white
and
then
you're an angel laying before me...
the same one that has been there all along,
the one my eyes turned into something else and I
am ashamed I was deceived.
Then,
I see you, I see you like the energy that flows through my limbs,
now, like the breath that takes the universe and
gently creates another, now, like my feet walking
on glass, now, like I was never there.
I love you like I was never there. So gently, never there. In the dark
where I can barely see, and, rest in all that love is.

Re: Word of the Week
WORD OF THE WEEK (2/25-3/4) IS: "DIG"
1. To understand fully: "I dig what you're sayin'"
2. To like, enjoy, or appreciate: "They really dig our music and, daddy, I dig swinging for 'em." - Louis Armstrong
3. To take notice of: "Wow! I totally dig what she is wearin'!."
**In its slang sense of "To enjoy," dig is one of the many words and expressions developed by musicians. Like "Cool," it is first recorded in 1930s jazz circles...much more about this word at my page.
