To fill you lovely 'pacers in on the back story, we were both in an indie rock band and spent about five years gigging around London. However, the endless band psychology that comes with trying to juggle four personalities and different levels of commitment finally took its toll and the band called it a day in 2004.
Then, like a crow from the ashes, The Great Distance was born. Putting the rock behind us, we set ourselves the task of recording an acoustic album using only the limited resources we had to hand.
We fashioned a 'studio' out of a three-foot shoe rack, fired up the trusty 8-track and got to work. A certain level of cabin fever inevitably crept in (see Heartfelt Peace) and the album maybe didn't end up as acoustic as originally intended...
However, the final opus was received like a tree full of presents on Christmas Day. In addition to having Billboard vote us the 5th best album of 2005 in their staff pick of the year we also impressed BBC1 enough for them to use three of our tracks in the award winning Child of Our Time series.
Thanks to everyone who has given us such great reviews:

"In a world of shadows and echoes, a duo from London creates haunting, slow-motion, guitar-and-piano-laden music about heartbreak, about hurt, about trying to find something or someone worth living for." www.erasingclouds.com
