After nights of watching David Lynch's 'Twin Peaks' on bootleg DVDs, eating cherry pie and drinking damn fine cups of coffee, THE GREAT NORTHERN was formed. Taking their moniker from the show's hotel, THE GREAT NORTHERN set out to do what every young band desires to do...eat more cherry pie, drink more coffee and play shows. Feeding off their inspiration, the music is a balancing act of old timey melody and modern day rock & roll. Their sound emotes a wedding: something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. With guests/members checking in-and-out as a result of life situations, THE GREAT NORTHERN constantly dodges bullets by keeping a solid core. You can't penetrate or break them. Only evolve with them.
THE GREAT NORTHERN is a mixed drink of old timey melody and modern day rock & roll.
THE GREAT NORTHERN seamlessly stitches their influences into a blanket of melodic sound.
THE GREAT NORTHERN is / is not an indie, punk, emo, rock, metal, hxc, country and / or ska band.
THE GREAT NORTHERN tries to find a new sound in the familiar.
THE GREAT NORTHERN likes you; you should like them back.
THE GREAT NORTHERN says hello.

Hey guys...it was nice to meet you all last weekend. We made the best of our journey but, wish we could've heard you live. I listened to your demo. Great stuff. Really liked it alot. Very original sound. I hope we share the stage with you soon. Thanks for the contact info in St. Joes. Anyway, take care & talk at you later.......
Great show last night. The crowd was insane! You guys are way better than I remember and have proven music can easily flow through your bodies instead of wonder what comes next. If you were off, I didn't know at all, sounded really tight. Deviator sucked though, screw those guys. ha ha ha. We're looking into playing here in Maryville if you guys are interested in joining us. More people will be there, school is back in. Ta! Troy L. Coots (deviator's guitarist, if you don't remember the name)
I will plan on it. I am busting out some new stuff here pretty soon... I plan ..ing to play some places again. We should hook up sometime. I do have a band atm.
