   About The Green Car Motel

THE GREEN CAR MOTEL is Rick Garcia and Rene Reyes. Blending both English and Spanish they've managed to forge their own way creating what Entertainment Today described as "No Border Rock." They grew up in San Diego Texas, located some 200 miles south of Austin. They would later relocate to Austin for a few years then move on to Los Angeles where they now make their home. Together and seperately they have written and performed songs for such major films as SEVEN POUNDS, BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN, COLLATERAL, MY BEST FRIEND'S GIRL, HANCOCK, NEXT, THE INTERPRETER, BANGKOK DANGEROUS, DOMINO, SAVING SILVERMAN, GLORY ROAD, BLIND HORIZON, GET SMART'S BILL and LLOYD'S BIG ADVENTURE and TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE to name but a few.

In late 2007 they released their self titled debut album THE GREEN CAR MOTEL. Included is the song "Asi Sera" which is featured in the Sony Pictures film SEVEN POUNDS starring Will Smith. The idea behind this cd was take a ride from our hometown of San Diego, Texas to Los Angeles" states Garcia. "We brought along trumpets, accordions, lap steele guitars, dobro's and a trunk load of other instruments to help us capture the landscape of the Southwest." In doing so they turned to long time friends and producers John Avila and Cisco DeLuna to help them achieve the sound which they were after. The finest of Tequila's flowed, Lucha Libre wrestling masks were often worn while the great musicians that contributed their talents to these songs often refused to leave the studio standing.

They adopted their name after Garcia observed a parked car alongside his street that was being used as a motel. "A place where transitory characters found respite" states Garcia. "Always moving, always writing a new chapter." he further states. We found the story of the car and our own musical journey ran parallel and so we checked in. It's a place where we let the music play and where the story continues to unfold.

Bienvenidos,

THE GREEN CAR MOTEL

Hey Guys,

Gee I haven't stopped by in a while and I feel bad about that, as I love your music.

But I did want to stop by and wish you a very Happy and Safe Holiday Season.

May your music thrive and reach all of those who have yet to enjoy its wonder.

Wow, you guys put that cd together in record time (no pun intended). I hope you and your families are safe from the fires ravaging the San Diego area. Keep soaring.
