We're influenced by anyone who still tries to make things better, one way or the other. We are not influenced only by bands, cause we aim at being more than a trendy, punk styled outfit. There are plenty of people who inspire us, mostly with their attitude and actions.

The band was formed years ago in Belgium by Jolt and Y while they were still students , hitting the steets of Brussels and occasionaly Amsterdam and London. At the time the group consisted of three members and one of its incarnations was SLAG THROBS. Their music had a pure Punk-New wave sound. Later, back in Greece, Y joined a 4-membered Goth-Punk band called INJECTILE that managed to record and almost made it to release a 3-song single. INJECTILE appeared live a few times.
Around '99, Jolt (guitar and vocals) and Y (bass and vocals) got together again and along with Dusty, now being the drummer and third member of the group, formed the Grimes. Soon Snow – an old acquaintance – joined in as 2nd guitar and vocals. Dusty decided to leave the band after four years due to musical differences. He was replaced by a few other drummers, none of which suited the aim and attitude of the Grimes, until the coming of Rev , x-drummer of a well-known greek band who decided to share the company of the Grimes and struggle with them for 3 passionate years after which he left ,willing to follow differend musical paths.Actually the drummer seat is occupied by Trigger, a handy musician whose socio-political and musical concerns came to join those of the rest of the band.
The GRIMES performed for the first time in November 2003. They have since mini toured Greece with the VIBRATORS and supported major acts like NEW MODEL ARMY, the STRANGLERS, the SAINTS, the NOMADS. They have also appeared in various music festivals along with major greek punk bands like PANX ROMANA, ANTIDRASI, DEUS X MACHINA, GULAG.
They have released a split 45' with the VIBRATORS and an EP of their own, entitled "Shooting Season" in 2005, with "On Stage Records" which got a lot of airplay on local radio stations and bars. In July 2008 they released a 3-track cd single entitled "April Fools' Day". The latest video clip for the main song of this release can be viewed also on YouTube and BlankTV. Actually the band is in the process of recording new material.
The Grimes are a political band. Their lyrics deal with the social and personal problems that arise from contemporary urban life.
