If you get a few minutes, have a listen to the music of my second band, DESCENT. This directly followed my time with the Grinning Plowman. I was 24 at the time, I believe. Amazing how time flies.
Because It was much more expensive to DIY back then, we recorded and mixed the whole album in 48 hours. I'd only been drumming for about 2 years, so considering all that I'm happy with how it came out. It's an accomplishment that can never be taken away!!
All four tunes are very different, so if one does sit right check out another. The one thing they all have in common is that they are arranged to build up to a big finish. I'd love to hear what you think.
Hey, Plowman friends! I'm desperately poor, so I'm selling a copy of, "I Play Jupiter", on CD. It's sad for me, but I was hoping that it might bring some joy to another Plower. Here is the link:
Sometime in the mid-90s, I slept in my car in a K-Mart parking lot, and all I had was Days of Deformity on tape to listen to. I woke to the title track playing in the morning before employees arrived to work. It is forever engrained into my brain.
Thanks for the add!!!!!! The funny thing is the guy who sings and plays guitar in my band used to be in the Plowman! He played on "I Play Jupiter"! He's the guy with the sledge hammer in your pics. Ha, small world!
Hello to whoever has opened this page! I was backstage at the '91 Nashville show shown in the videos above and it was quite a sight and quite a band!! A mind blowing performance! I saw them last in '94 and was saddened to hear things had ended. At the time, it was quite a trip hangin' with one of my favorite bands and I will never forget it. I have nothing but positive memories that will last forever. Peace to Michael, Janet and the rest of the family. dr
I was lucky enough to be around when this band was twisting the minds of Nasvillians. I was in a band that opened for them one night. We were called Freaking Apathy. The Guitarist was a big fan of GP, and friend of the band. I was lead singer, but not the gothic type, I didnt last too long with those guys. One of the coolest experiences of my life was driving some were on the outskirts of the city one night to meet with Mr. Plowman and his wife, the bassist. Parked outside was this weird school bus with religious icons painted on it. Their tour bus, I guess. Inside the house was wall to wall books, no TV. We chatted drinking coffee, with a large bowl of M&M's on the table. The smartest, nicest people I ever met. Singer had the spookiest blue eyes. I have Jupiter. Love It! YOU guys may want to google Giles Reeves, the legendary Nashville new age synth master, who produced some of their CDs. So glad I found this!!
"Gothic" is just the tip of the iceberg, wen it comes to the sound and vision this band created.
I remember so vividly a cool night in 1989, with a full moon in the sky behind the stage. It was Cats on Murfreesboro Rd....and the song Inquisitions was playing. That was the 1st night...and then there were many more that came after that.
