My name is Michael Taylor and I was born in Indianapolis Indiana, and began playing the drums at a very early age. Although not a “classically studied” musician I was fortunate enough to have grown up in a musical family of drummers, and was exposed to a wide array of musical styles. A primarily self-taught musician, I learned how to play and develop my sense of musicality by listening, watching, and emulating some of my favorite drummers, as well as a few lessons. Among of those most influential to me wanting to be in this crazy business include my father (Russell Taylor) and grandfather (Jack Ireland).
During my college career I played in various big bands and small jazz combos, as well as freelancing and recording with several musicians and bands in whatever local I happened to reside at the time.
In April of 2003 I decided to take the challenge and conquer the Los Angeles music scene. Since my tenure in LA I've gotten fortunate opportunities to work with many artists/bands, and have recorded with top producers such as Neil Citron (neilcitron.com) and David Campbell (davidmusic.com). Also, have since become a regular session drummer at Invengo Records (Invengoproductions.com), 7th Level Productions (7thlevelproductions.com), Skip Saylor Recording Company, Inc. (skipsaylor.com). I'm always looking to connect with talented musicians and artists alike. Thank you for stopping by, and all the best.
