Well, it was fun while it lasted. The Guthries were active from roughly 1998-2003 and released two albums, "Off Windmill" (2000) and "the guthries" (2002). We toured across Canada several times and toured the UK three times. We had lots of fun playing for great and supportive people. Thanks to everyone who came out to the shows and who helped us in any way (and there were lots who did).
So what is everyone up to now? Find out for yourself:
Check back every so often - I'll be putting up some old video footage of the CMT Canada special, as well as some other odds 'n' ends. Below is the old bio written by Dale and Brian's sister Amy. It still makes me laugh, and we actually used it for all our promo. It got more attention than any other bio I've ever used.
"The Guthries are a small band with no less than four and no greater than five members of average height or higher. Their names range anywhere from Dale, Brian, and Serge, to Gabe, and Ruth. The Guthries have a sound most commonly compared to the noise a wild goat makes when eating tin cans. If you were to see The Guthries perform live you might think to yourself,"Well, that's The Guthries"- and you would have hit the nail right on the head. The Guthries have had a lot of big, funny, companies with capital letter names such as CCMA, CMT, BBC, UNCUT, MOJO, CBC, MIANS and the like say "Well isn't that interesting? Good for them!" The Guthries: a band with much to offer at a reasonable rate."

In early August of 2001 we held a concert at Little Nashville in Dartmouth, NS and with the help of CMT Canada and Murder Inc, we filmed the show for a TV special. It's a bit old now,but hopefully you'll enjoy it. Check out Matt's foreshadowing comments towards the end of clip 3 - funny stuff looking back at it now. Here is the first of three videos highlighting scenes from The Guthries 1/2 hour CMT Canada special "Better Part of an Hour":

The "Trials" video is a big, one-shot, DV camera production by none other than Andrew Watt of the Heavy Blinkers. It cost us nothing (that'll be evident if you watch it - no slight to Andrew) but it's better than all of the big-budget stuff we've done.
