The Highway Chiles as known as "The Gypsy Ladyland Experience" have been performing on & off for some years now since about 1999. Originated by Darren Cochrane, Aubrey Langridge (maker of the extraordinary Blu Gum pot drum shells.) & Rick Stanbridge, it was mereley a means to learn from each other on a shared path of Hendrix exploration. In a pokey room, behind closed doors, it kept them all playin... Food for our musical souls....
The band explore 3 stages of Hendrix's career and took their original name from 'The Electric Ladyland Studio's,' 'The Band of Gypsys' and of course The Jimi Hendrix Experience.'
Around 2003, Al Gubbins resumed drums when the band re-formed after a semi-long gap.
Derived from a love rather than corporate goals, The Highway Chiles aim to let you re-live the kind of playing and feel reminiscent of The live venue sound of the late 60's 70's. Always performed with soulful respect.
