It started with a jam among friends in a living room ... and that's still what it feels like today - a big, super-hip, comfortable, all-inclusive, public living room full of top-rate music and people of every stripe.
Quintessentially Venetian, the Habit jam each Friday and Saturday night (7-10 p.m.) takes place at Abbot's Habit, the hub of the township. You automatically feel as though you are among friends, even if you've never been before and know no one. By the time you leave, you will be smiling inside and most certainly have been rocked - moved - inspired - possibly flashed (yes, there have been occasional nudist walk-throughs, with no one blinking an eye) - and above all, thrilled to have found a place where it's about the music, about the community, about POSITIVITY.
Started by Paul Gronner and Scotty Passaglia in early 2005, the showcase just keeps getting more impressive. From neighborhood musicians and friends (Form Of, Scotty P., Clifford Novey, Kim Michalowski, Paul Chesne, Steve McCormick, Blue Eyed Son, Saint John and the Revelations, Matt Ellis, infinity) to international recording stars (Tom Morello aka The Nightwatchman with The Riot Folk, Tom Freund, Todd Hannigan) the experience and enthusiasm are the same = of the people, for the people. (And that means the young, old, those with homes, those without, activists, babies, highbrows on Abbot Kinney for dinner, stumbling in for a latte and being pleasantly surprised by the killer music they've lucked into, hippies, hipsters, YOU!)
Please join us each Friday and Saturday night for a musical experience you will find nowhere else on Earth. If Venice can be considered Earth. You'll be back for more.

Hey, Shawn & Kevin from LA's Rock Cover Band Forever Vinyl wants to invite you down to our Open-Mike Nights. We will be hosting Open-Mike the next 2 Wednesdays @ Venice Bistro in Venice (5:30-10pm). Right on the boardwalk with tons of foot traffic!. We will also be hosting one every Tues (except May 13) at a great venue, Aura Rest. & Nightclub in Studio City (8-11pm). Also we have Open Mike on Thursday May 8 @ It’s A Grind Coffee House in Santa Clarita. We will provide PA, acoustic guitars, acoustic bass, electric piano, and percussion. Just come on down, sign-in and you'll get to play (atleast) 2-3 songs (original or covers) or 5-10 minutes for comedians. This is a great opportunity to play your music, promote shows, sell cds, and network with many other musicians. Spread the word and let me know if you're interested and I'll get you the addresses.
