The Hailstones started as an acoustic side-project in 2004 while I played in Bath-based hardcore band, Elysia. When I left school, and the various members of Elysia went their separate ways, I decided to bring this side-project to the forefront and focus on it as my main 'band'.
During the summer of 2006 I recorded my first album as The Hailstones called "Theodore and the Spectres". I recorded it at home on my laptop and and at my school in Bath with help from two members of Elysia, Owen Fung and Ben Brzezicki. The album follows the story of a young boy who discovers a secret hallway under his garden and, by exploring the worlds hidden behind its many doors, learns some difficult and often shocking truths about adult life.
For the next year I played various shows in the Bath and Exeter areas, before taking a year off to study at Vassar College in New York.
Now that I'm back, I'm working on my second album, entitled 'Midwayer'. While not having a specific 'concept' or story to follow this time, there are several key themes that I'm exploring in this album, the main ones being childhood memories and how they relate to my life now, anxieties about adulthood, and the search for a hidden magic in the world. I hope to have the recording done by the end of 2007.
I hope to be playing a lot more shows in the next year (probably just me and an acoustic guitar, although some suprise guests may be on the cards!) so check back for dates. If you would like me to play a show with you, do drop me a line:

This guy is a genius but he has one problem. He has the obsession of perfecting things which means everything takes forever (especially the album) but obviously it will be damn good when its complete. I will wait for ever.
