“Your hand of Midas revealing its curse in all its glory, all that you wish to be gold just weighs you down”
- Self-Inflicted
When vocalist Sean Bailey and guitarist Brent Everley began jamming in 2008, they felt that it could be the start of something special. With a creative rapport rapidly developing, inspiration was high and the songs were flowing freely. In fact, one particularly poignant lyric from the song “Self-Inflicted” stood out to the band, a lyric that they felt identified who they were and where they were going - The Hand of Midas was born.
It was soon clear, however, that something was still missing from the group. After plugging in various members and continuing to seek the missing pieces, Sean and Brent knew that it was time to complete the puzzle. Refusing to compromise on the lineup, they set out to find the right musicians to round out The Hand of Midas, and in the summer of 2009 accomplished their mission with the addition of bassist Brian Holloway and drummer Taylor Jones. Sean’s gritty vocals and inspired lyrics and Brent’s infectious riffs and tight vocal harmonies, as well as their ability to trade off on lead vocal duties, were complemented perfectly by Brian’s electric performances and skills on the bass and Taylor’s phenomenal chops behind the kit. The combination of all of these elements has resulted in an undeniable chemistry that has become synonymous with The Hand of Midas.
Loaded with musicians that have collectively rocked stages across 5 states in venues including the Kansas Expo Center, Harrah’s Voodoo Lounge, The Uptown Theater, The Granada, The Mishawaka Theater, and The Beaumont Club, the time is now for The Hand of Midas. Currently qualified to compete in the Championship round of Club Wars, the Midwest’s premiere battle of the bands, at The Uptown Theater in Kansas City, they have been steadily increasing their presence and winning over fans everywhere. Come to a show and see for yourself – we’re sure that you’ll be next.
