THE HAZZARDS are a hilarious, boozy, indie-pop quintet based in Brooklyn. They throw down with electric ukuleles, casio sk-1, bass, drums and harp! Their cute, girly, songs ranging from rap to romance, are always performed in matching outfits. High five!
Sydney Maresca & Anne Harris have been playing together since meeting at a party in 2000. Originally a ukulele duo known as The Ukes Of Hazzard, the band now features Will Carlough on drums, Andy Dickerson on bass, and Paul Thureen on harp.
The Hazzards’ first hit, GAY BOYFRIEND, was one of the very first viral videos. It attracted worldwide attention and propelled the single all the way to a 67 debut on the UK singles charts (with Seal’s single premiering that same week at 68!). And they are still soooooo good at internet videos! Check them out at the Carrie prom in ALWAYS and sucking face in SHUT UP AND MAKE OUT.
The Hazzards have appeared on MTV UK, Comedy Central's "Out on the Edge" and "The World Stands Up", “Rad Girls” on Fuse, and “Special Sauce” on Starz Comedy. They have pizza first and booze second at every practice.
The Hazzards rock! Y'all remind me of a band I produced in the 80's called The Sterilles; Christina Applegate's role models on MWC. Just stoppin' by to drop off some BurroSpam from Road Apple Records.... My old friend King Gully was the first Rasta surfer on the wild North Shore of Barbados. This (ukulele!) song, imaginatively also named "King Gully", is based on his true story. It's been described as a cross between "I Shot The Sheriff" and "Puff The Magic Dragon". :>) I think you'll like it, as well as the video, with shots of great surfing and amazing waves, all from Barbados! Enjoy....
En ce début d'année 2009 (qu'on souhaite excellente pour vous), nous avons du nouveau son en écoute sur notre myspace! Et oui, une partie de notre premier maxi est maintenant audible. Bonne écoute et à bientôt !
Hiya, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Hope you got a ridiculous amount of presents all of which you wanted very much. Also I trust that you spent Christmas with those you like best in all the world, cause otherwise, why bother? I am running away to Canada in January to record some music, so maybe I should incorporate that into my new years resolution... something, something, I will be creative and productive, blah, blah, blah. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, hope the holidays are great fun for you. -Kate Elliott
