Influences
We all come from different backgrounds in music and maybe even different walks of earth. Shan's a grunge girl from birth with a natural flair for playing the acoustic guitar like it should be an electric. Although Shan's got her musical favourites she cant say what influences the way she writes other than "I have verbal diarrhea".
This verbal diarrhea gets a play through our live sets, as they do impromptu's with the topics prompted by the audience.
Adam and Sam are both hip hop boys originally wich means they bring funk and flow to the rythmn section, though hip hop is a major influence to the boy's both have a background in grunge and alternative rock, with
Adam playing in sydney punk band dambliss and Sam jamming various styles from age seven with different muzo's including his brother Josh (www.myspace.com/shadkai)
We like to keep our sound raw and its is nothing to hear different versions of our songs (versions that we havent even heard before. Fingers are pointed at Shan on this one). The Heanies are about having fun and enjoying themselves in everything they do. We feel the music rather than be all technical and just want people to have fun at our performances. We dont even get shitty if you talk through the gig........ as long as you clap in all the right places and leave with smile on your face.... (but not a groupie in your arms, we don"t have many of them so were rather protective)
LIFE is our influence!!
Sounds Like
Garage rock! We like to keep it raw, keep that beat going that makes people want to move.
Shan Hooper has been playing local pubs for the past 12 months. Playing gigs like ASA, Friday I'm in Love, Wax Lyrical, Holly Thursday and has also supported Fruit. But she found herself lonely and needing some kind of companionship on stage (the stage was way to big for a pint size shan by herself, plus if you have a beer by yourself you're an alcoholic) Then one sunny day, a few too many beers and a haircut later Sam Tilley said to Shan lets jam...and they did...and it was fun.
Now uncle Adam lived just up the road, he would come down and listen, and then after...a few too many beers ( i.e 2) Adam suddenly remembered that he use to play the bass...and so they played into the sunset and became THE HEANIES.
