Jim Carroll (Irish Times The Ticket) believes they're the freshest thing since mouthwash, Jackie Hayden (HotPRESS) says they're fab, and Alison Curtis thinks it would be an awful 'Shame' to miss them.
Get it? You will!
The Heard - four fellas from Waterford launched into the cosmos of independent Rock n'Roll music in late 2004 and, since launch; the band has strategically plotted a course to boldly go where...you know where this is going.
Some low-key gigs allowed The Heard to find their sound live - giving them the confidence to mix it up with high-profile acts including Ocean Colour Scene, David Kitt and Super Stanley 800.
Still on-board? Good.
The rapid release of debut LP, Distorted Pick-up
Lines, led to national airplay including a live appearance on TG4. The lads, wanting to flex their muscles, decided to go toalright, I get itnobody likes a smartarse.
The Heard accepted an invitation to go to Brussels, where some realpolitiking led to them headlining to 2,000 appreciative Europeans.
The band was finding its sound. Ever-the-perfectionists, time for rehearsal was allocated before returning to the studio.
Self-belief now stratospheric allowed them enough conviction to step up to Ciarán OSheas plate. The Cork-based producer of Rulers of the Planet and Cyclefly would enable The Heard to move to another sphere of success.
In fact, Shame one of the singles from the finished product, All Over Again would find its way onto the Music for Long Ears compilation album (the 2006 Sofa Records recording was the brainchild of former Emperor of Ice Cream, John Haggis).
Meanwhile, the erstwhile Ms Curtis would go on to play the track on her show, The Last Splash on a regular basis.
As weve discovered, the sky is the limit for The Heard. Its to infinityand beyond. As Mr Spock, sorry, Scotty would say, Just check it em out te fuck capn.
***All Over Again will be launched at The Sugar Club on Friday, July 14th.
The local launch, however, is at Paul Flynns [formerly, Kings Bar] on Lombard St in Waterford on June 3rd. This gig will be in the form of a live recording for local radio station, WLRfm.
